Why Take a Winter Class?

Winter Sessions are one of the easiest ways to get ahead or catch up. With accelerated courses offered in just 2 or 4 week formats, you can earn up to 4 units in between regular semesters and make real progress toward your goals—whether you’re pursuing a degree, clearing prerequisites, upskilling for work, or learning for self-improvement.

How to Register

For Current CSULB Students:
If you're currently enrolled at CSULB, you can register for Winter Sessions through MyCSULB, just like you would for Fall or Spring courses.

For Non-CSULB Students:
You don’t need formal admission to CSULB and most classes are transferable to other institutions! Registration for non-students opens October 20, 2025. Click here to learn how to register for Winter Sessions as a non-student.

Deadlines to Register:

  • Session 1: December 18, 2025
  • Session 2: January 1, 2026

Winter Sessions Offer a Variety of Subjects

There’s a wide variety of online, in-person, and hybrid classes available during Winter Sessions. You’ll find an impressive range of individual courses within broader topic areas like Communication Studies, Earth Science, Healthcare, Political Science, Religious Studies, Sociology, and much more.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many units can I take during Winter Sessions?

  • Students may enroll in a maximum of 4 units during Winter Sessions. If you're interested in taking more than that, forms are available to request special permission.

How much do courses cost?

  • Winter Sessions courses are $351 per unit for undergraduate courses and $429 per unit for graduate courses. The cost of a course would be the number of units multiplied by the per-unit fee.

Can I use financial aid for my classes during Winter Sessions?

  • Although there is no federal financial aid specific to Winter Sessions, CSULB students are encouraged to budget their annual financial aid award to include Winter Sessions. Students can check with CSULB’s Financial Aid Office at 562-985-8403. For students not already enrolled at CSULB, federal financial aid is not available.
